- 9. Ring Of Hands by Argent
The best (under-appreciated) progressive band of the 60's/70's, much more than "Hold Your Head Up" - their first 2 albums are classics! Now available on CD.

A god-given album w/Wakeman on keyboards and sheer power/musical brilliance, this song defines this brilliant classical/jazz/rock group.

Of the greatest selling albums of all-time, this song in particular captures the spaciness, quiet and thunder of this groundbreaking band-Alan Parsons' production is the best all time!

This band had everything to be the greatest of all time, but the drugs got 'em in the end. Gordon's brilliant drumming, Radle cooks endlessly, Whitlock's keys wail and Clapton at his peak before crashing.
- 3. Where Am I Going by Gino Vannelli
The genius of all genius producer, arranger, vocalists, composer-Gino's "Storm At Sunup" is a MUST to own - the absolute best of jazz/rock fusion, with great production/players. The man is a genius! Much more than "I Just Wanna Stop" (which his younger brother wrote).
- 2. Edith & The Kingpin by Joni Mitchell
Joni's transition to jazz was perfect. This song epitomizes perfectly the marriage of lyrics and slow Brazilian feel for me. She is the BEST songwriter of all time. Period. (Sorry, John/Paul, Keith/Mick, Elton, etc...)
- 1. Maybe I'm Amazed by Paul McCartney
In interviews McCartney has said that this is his favorite song. It happens to be mine, too. From his first solo album (circa 1970), recorded 4 tracks no less!
There were SO MANY great acts/songs from the 70's: AWB, Tower Of Power-"What Is Hip", Earth Wind & Fire-"That's The Way Of The World", James Taylor, Genesis, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Jeff Beck, Dylan, Doors, Santana...Maybe a TOP 100 list next time around.
