  • 10. It's Alive
once again this is a personal selection. and as you might have guessed this one scared the crap out of me. enough to actually make me worry about my own mother getting pregnant (with a mutant brother or sister) guess larry cohen made an impression on sombody. hey i was wasn't even 10 yet.
  • 9. Close Encounters Of The 3rd Kind
at the time this movie sarced me. the image of the boy opening the door and bright orange light combined with the john williams music. also the aliens themsleves looked very creepy. suffice to say i can now view the flim properly today but back then it was scary some others who were pre teens back then might agree with me. like star wars a trend setting film and with an equally memorible opening theme.
  • 8. Carrie
along with the earlier mentioned don"t be afraid of the dark this one also scared the living daylights out of me. and thats considering i didn't watch the whole movie at the time but images are still distrubing to this day. sissy spaeck in my opinion gave THE scariest female preformance ever. you were scared of her yet felt sorry her at the same time.(at least i did)
  • 7. Battlestar Galactica
this is more of personal fav. i know it copies star wars in many, many, however, for a pre teen kid in the late 70's outside of star wars this was the only other "good" option.
  • 6. Alien
although not my favorite in the series that honor belongs to ALIENS this one was the first and good enough to be one best of the decade. this is another film with hard to forget images ,the chest bursting scene and the alien itself, which was so orignal in design that its been copied to lesser extent innummerable times. after star wars this type of film is probably the most copied. trust me stick to the orginal ideas of great ideas.
  • 5. Superman
still THE best adaptation (sorry sipderman and batman fans) of a comic book hero EVER be on the big screen. note to mention great music.
  • 4. Rocky
the best and most realistic of the rocky films. once again a memorable movie accompied by memorable music.
  • 3. Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark
a made for t.v. movie that was in my opinion had it been on the big screen would make most peoples top ten lists. very scary. very good. the only thing this flim is missing is a really eerie soundtrack.
  • 2. Saturday Night Fever
once again a brillant combo of flim and music. unforgettable. unfornately i was too young at the time to see this on the big screen.
  • 1. Star Wars
i was seven when saw this at the theatre and although it was a little long for my attention span(at the time) i never forgot the images AND the music can anyone ever forget the opening(the stardestroyer flyingright over your head) needless to say this flim turned me on to sci-fi for life. thank you mr. lucas
because i was very young in 70's i was still old enough to remember either posters, commericals or other images that stayed with me . of the entire list star ears was the only one i got to see on the big screen. it wasn't until cable t.v. and vhs/betamax did i get to enjoy the others. just as good now as they were way back when. honourable mention must go to SHAFT

  • 3. Godfather, Part 2
francis ford coppola's crime drama continues as michael pickin up his mob business right where it left off in the end of the first mafia classic movie... The godfather part 2 takes you to the depts and makes you wonder... what next?
  • 2. Goodfellas
De Niro is my favorite actor and he kicks ass as Jimmy Conway in the mob movie. no other movie except for this goes deep down inside the real mob even better than godfather. godfather is a made up story goodfellas aint and that is why goodfellas is the second best movie and gangster movie ever made. period.
  • 1. The Godfather, Part One
the godfather part one is by far the greatest ganggster, crime, drama, and basic movie ever made. it has spun the reality of the mob into an everyday situtation... life. nominitated for 10 academy awards the movie has to be so good. i, being italian see the movie more than the mob, the italian wedding, the italian food clemenza makes, the italian language which i can speak fluent as well as english duh im an america, and the violence is good. i love the godfather... best movie ever made
so as you can see these films i wrote down r not all the best ones... they r just ones i could think off the top of my head. so these films here touched our heart... lifted our spirits... and took us to a new place... thank you... o these r just for the hell of it and uhh o shit i just relized this is the best films of the 70s. these r the best films of all time but here r the best films of the 70's 10. patton 9. the deer hunter 8. the exorcist 7. alien 6. star wars 5. jaws 4. taxi driver 3. mean streets 2. the godfather part2 1. the godfather part one

  • 10. Escape From Alcatraz
Another film grossly underrated by the viewing public ,watch and watch again is my motto, you never know you just might find The shawshank redemption in there somewhere,ha ha ha ha
  • 9. Exorcist
William friedkins masterpeice will never be repeated because he utilised every element of horror that has not been seen since, actually one of the more terrifying aspects of the film was the part played by Max von sydow, you can just feel the fear, class.
  • 8. Alien
For realistic monster in outer space movies, this and the thing starring Kurt russell are my favourite space horror films of the 70,s because these people could act,you could believe Tom skerrit,Yaphet koto, john hurt and Sigourney weaver.
  • 7. Deer Hunter
I could put many De niro films in here but theres only one with Chris walken, john savage, and john cazale all acting the way acting should be done.
  • 6. One Flew Over The Cuckoo,s Nest
Jack nicholson,as far as im concerned played himself in this film. When i first saw it i thought fuckin hell i could do that part then i realised i was only dreaming.
  • 5. Saturday Night Fever
What do you say about this film that hasnt already been said?well you can ask will it ever happen again?and the answer?nope.
  • 4. Midnight Express
Brad davis ,John hurt,Randy quaid.Based on a true story of life for an american in a turkish prison for drug smuggling, harrowing but essential viewing for any film enthusiast.
