Description
Whittle Away was a variation on the "Chip Away" theme, in that it was a "wooden" (i.e., wax) log and a plastic bucknife, with which you "whittled" the "log" into a "wooden" (again, it was really plastic) knick-knack. I believe one of the Whittle Away figurines was an alligator.

I remember the alligator and I think a totem pole and, possibly, a canoe.

From Kenner, 1972. Found an image of the Whittle Away box. The hidden, pre-molded figures were alligator, totem pole and cannon, the only ones available in each set. Chip Away had several different sets. Both products were discontinued in 1973.
