Description
It was a "Barbie" style doll of the celebrity, Cher Bono, except that she was "extra large"--maybe 18 inches tall with a white sparkly halter jumpsuit and hair that you could twist the scalp and on one side was black and the other side was blonde! I loved that doll... wish I had kept it.

This isn't the Cher doll you're describing: this large doll with the scalp you could twist to change her hair color was called Tiffany Taylor. I have no idea why, but my cousins had one.

No, It was a Cher Doll. I had one as well. My mom gave it to me in the 70's. Not sure which year. I too loved this doll. There was indeed a large Cher doll that had two hair colors that you could change by twistung her scalp.

hmmm...now you've got me thinking..as said in the other post I thought they were two dolls (which they are) but maybe the actual Cher Doll (and yes she was a tad larger so could only wear her Bob Mackie outfits) but maybe she was albe to change hair color as well...gosh wish ther was an image

there were TWO Taylors. Tiffany AND Tuesday- one 11 1/2 inches and one 18. Cher did not have the twisting scalp...if you have that doll, you are rich

I have the Cher Doll - she does have blonde and black hair that has the twisting scalp. She is wearing her original outfit - a one piece gold lame swimsuit.

You guys are talking about Tuesday Taylor dolls! Not Cher! The Mego Cher doll had long black hair, tanned skin, and rooted eyelashes. She came in a salmon pink tricot gown with mermaid tail and open-toe pink heels.

I just found my old doll from the 70's in my parents attic. I grew up thinking it was a Cher doll... only now do I realize it is a 1974 Tiffany Taylor. It is exactly the same... twisting hair, gold lame swimsuit with velcro skirt and those green platform shoes! Thanks everyone!

I remember one Christmas my cousin got a Cher doll. It had to be around 1975. This doll, I remember, had the LONGEST fake eyelashes in the history of doll-making! We were stepping on the face occasionally in our race around the tree and I remember those lashes hurt!

I had one of the twisting hair Cher dolls. She came with lame pants, white shirt and green shoes. You could also get additional costumes. She had platnum blonde hair on one side, black on the other.

I had the same doll - it was a Cher doll. & I had the Bionic Woman, and the Wizard of Oz collection. I wish I had them today.

I had the Cher doll... I've never heard of the Tiffany?Tuesday Taylor doll, but I know for sure that the Cher doll had a twisting scalp and hair that changed from black to blonde, and tan skin. Don't know why we're debating this, isn't it possible that TWO different dolls existed that had similar features?

It was Cher I had teh same doll loved it and have been looking for it myself
neet - June 06, 2012 - Report this comment
yes there is 1 and I have her,,,does anyone know how much she is worth
Rob Lambert - June 06, 2012 - Report this comment
Responding to neet's comment: The Cher doll coincided with her short-lived CBS variety show in 1976. Loose, and in good condition, about $15-$20. Mint in original box, about $75. The box should include the "Cher" logo that was used on her TV show (a circle with a large C, the other letters inside the circle). The twisting scalp feature reflected on how often Cher would change hair styles and colors for TV appearances. While production of the doll was limited to about a year or so, they are not a rarity unless mint, unused in box, and with all inserts.
Rob Lambert - June 07, 2012 - Report this comment
An addition to previous remarks: My $75 estimated value in mint-in-box was based on a 2004 reference guide. Now, I would say $85 to $90. Demand for Cher dolls today are modest, as it was in 1976 and '77. Girls usually preferred role models closer to their own age. Cher was in her early 30s in 1976. Demand for Cher dolls likely plummeted when a new diva came to town: Farrah Fawcett-Majors. That is partly why the Cher doll hasn't really soared in value on the collectibles market.

Those of you who keep insisting that the only doll with the twisting hair, was the Tiffany or Tuesday Taylor dolls, have obviously never seen the Cher twisting hair doll I can say for a fact that it does exist. My sister got one for Christmas one year. I used to get jealous of it and hide the box it came in. It was definitely a Cher doll. I remember the picture and the doll as if it was yesterday. There's a hand full of Barbie dolls that I remember from childhood, and that was one of them. It so unique I never forgot it. So stop saying that we don't know what we're talkin about, because those who have seen it or and it, know that we in fact correct.
