Description
Fantastic space ship that made sounds as it ascended and descended. Had little interceptors on the wing that came off and the front came off as a bonus. Also had a cardboard base and i think a black evil version.(might have made that bit up?)

This was such a cool toy. I remember playing with it for hours. I'd still have it, if it weren't for Pops cleaning the basement and throwing away all my toys.
There was indeed a black 'evil' version, the Starbird Intruder, while the main much larger toy was the Starbird Avenger. The Intruder was really just the cockpit of the Avenger coloured black and a very tiny winged engine compartment shoved on the back. I still have mine.
I still have my orignal Starbird in the box. This was the first one that did not shut off when shot at. I also have the complete command base in the original box. Neat toy. Only issue is one of the removable interceptors has a broken "wing". Other than that it is all there and still works.
I remember this toy as well and wondered if there were any other play sets?also were their action figures that came with the ship? I seem to recall some type of tower or the base. At any rate I thought it was a really cool toy from my childhood! Good Hunting!
