Description
This was a very long strip of yellow type of plastic which you put on the grass, attached to the hose, and ran and slid on. There was also that crazy attachment that went on the hose, and when the water was on full blast, it would fly all around, shooting water everywhere.

Was I the only one to get black and blue bruises on my hip bones from running as fast as I could to dive head first and land on this wonderfully wet and slippery slide on the hottest day of summer?

"Was I the only one to get black and blue bruises on my hip bones from running as fast as I could to dive head first and land on this wonderfully wet and slippery slide...?" Nah, I'm guessing it was the sprinkler heads.

Slip n Slide was a Wham-O original, going back to about 1957, near when they first marketed Hula Hoop. There have been numerous copycat toys by rival companies. The water-snake toy came about 1968, which really spun like crazy when water was turned up to max. Despite the limited fun factor, Slip n Slide remains a popular seller. The earliest TV commercial I have is from a "Tom & Jerry" cartoon show (5/6/67, CBS), about a year before the spraying snake hit the stores.
