These were sold at the local "dime store" and cost about a dollar at the time, which was very expensive. One of the neighbor ladies bought me some. They came in a little clear plastic box. Some of them were duds but others were jumping right there in the display case. Eventually they die and stop jumping (one should hope!)

I remember 2 types: One were little plastic things- looked like a medical capsule. Two halves, different colors. BB inside. Little eyes painted on them. The other were "real". Sold in a little plastic case. Really jumped. I put mine in my desk, and found them months later - a very ugly bug had crawled out of the bean into the case and died.

We got some of these while in Wisc Dells and my Father hated the noise so much we had to put the jumping bean containers in the bathroom to drown out the sound. We thought they were the coolest things until we learned that a worm larva was living in the seeds. EWWWW...........
