Description
hey there. I asked for this when I was 5 or so. I have it on tape (with santa!) Anyway...I vividly remember the commercial. It was a tank looking thing with a fake laser on top ( a light) and it pulled a trailer that could dump stuff. in the commercial, the kid brings an apple to his dad. It looked almost like a military type of truck. Did you ever hear of this? do you have ANY other info on this? I was born in 1972 so if I was 5 that would put me at 1977. SO this item has to be from around then. ANY info would be greatly appreciated! thanks!!

the toy you are describing is called BIG TRAK made by Milton Bradley in 1979. I think i ask for that about a bazillion times for christmas but never got one. The Maxx Machine however I DID get for christmas somewhere around 1979. It was a yellow van that would go and turn and reverse every time you hit the button on the "remote". It really wasn't a tradional remote in the sense that it only made a loud clicking sound when you pushed the button. Basically the van was noise activated, so you could actually make it work just by clapping your hands or shouting quickly and loud enough. Then it would change directioneach time you did that. My brother and I must have gone through about 50 batteries in the first few weeks after christmas because we could not stop playing with them.

The original Maxx Machine was in fact a yellow van the changed direction whenever you pushed the clicker. It was in fact sound activated and you could achieve the same action by a loud clap of the hands. In about 80 or 81 they came out with another van that was all black.

I have been looking all over for this toy, and this is the first time I have come across anything about it. I got one for Christmas in 79 and like the other's went Thur batteries like crazy. Anyone have a picture of this van? sure would love to see it again. Getting ready to turn 40 and starting to have a mid life. LOL.
