Description
I had a Drowsy doll, and she didn't just close her eyes when you laid her down. She had a string and when you pulled it she said about 12 different sayings. Mine was circa 1971 or so. I can't believe you had Gabba Gail and Sweet April on those sites. I had both of those dolls as well.

I had a drowsy doll!!!! Still got her in a box somewhere! Blond hair, little pink ribbons, pink with white polka dots. Love her to bits! Her pull string broke though so she doesnt say anything anymore. What memories

I had a drowsy doll in the 1960's that I played with continually. One morning I woke up and my doll was gone! I looked all over and tore the house to pieces but never again found my doll. I think one of my older sisters "lost her" for me. I am still upset!

I had a really mean brother who took my drowsy doll and tore her to shreds to find out how she worked. My mom bought me another one with cloth hands, but she was never quite the same. I don't know what happened to her. Wish I could find her. But about 13 years ago, I bought me not one, but three on ebay. one talks, the others don't. and i bought a couple of the reproduction dolls when they came out a few years back.

I enjoyed mine so much that I broke the string. What can I say? I was rough on my toys. She kind of reminded me of Droopy, the cartoon dog with that sleepy look.

I had three as a 6 year old child. My Brother operated as well to see how it talked. I carried this doll everywhere, she went everywhere and never left my side. Now at age 43 my Daughters and I have 14 of them. They love her as well and we are still collecting, funny thing how this doll captures your heart and a piece of your soul.

My husband will say, "I go sleep now, night night." before he heads to bed. His youngest sister had one of these dolls when they were all small children. He told me that he and his brother would pull on the string rapidly so Drowsy Doll would mix up her sayings!! "I go Drink of Sleep!" "I wannanother Stay Up!" etc. I never had this doll, but I can JUST imagine him doing this as a child!! Thanks for sharing.

My sister and I both got one for Christmas in the early 70s. I hated that thing because it wasn't a real doll in my kid-mind, but a rag doll. I did like to pull the cord and listen to the sayings, though.

I had a black Drowsy doll, and I named her Rena. I think I must have gotten her for my 3rd or 4th birthday. I loved that doll. I found a working one on Ebay some years back. I've often wondered who the child was who voiced her.
