sort of a "g.i.-joe after the war" 12" action figure w/an outdoorsy theme.(plaid flannel shirt included)had a button on the back that made him perform a karate chop.

Was it the doll that had flexing biceps? You could put a little metal band on his arm then flex it and the band would pop off.
Loved the Big Jim doll. It was my favorite toy and loved his various friends. The karate chop was awesome and he and GI Joe had some great adventures. They did beat up Ken as they fought over who got to date Barbie.
