Description
Yellow & Orange (vinyl covered cardboard) RV looking camper with a plastic lift up windshield, so you can place Barbie in the drivers seat. It had a fold down panel on the driver’s side that extended out into an attached tent. I have seen two colors for the tent, one was an orangey red and the other was a multi-colored plaid. The panel on the passenger side would slide out to reveal the inside living area. The back panel would pull down and be supported by a yellow string creating an attached table. It also came with a lot of camping equipment, campfire (gray rocks with orange flames), and grill to place on top of fire, pots, pans, coffee pot, plates & table. The color of these items may vary. The most common ones were orange, but I’ve seen yellow. It also had fold out chairs with yellow seat & orange legs and two yellow sleeping bags. But the same applies to these items as the tent … I’ve seen multi color plaid on the sleeping bags and chairs.

i am sorry but, unless Santa Claus left out or kept most of my County Camper stuff..the descrition about is mistaken. There were not any rocks of pots and pans just a tip out orange tent on the camper.?? Or how did all of this get by me?

I wrote the above description and went from mostly memory...my sister had one. I did more searching and found that the camper did in fact come with these items. I also found items I didn't remember. Like white cooking utensils and white drinking goblets & coffee cups.

Hi. This site is great! I, too, had the camper and remember the rock campfire and sleeping bags (yellow plastic-y?) but not the utensils. I loved mine....

Mine had all those things. Reading the description brought back so many memories. I had actually forgotten all the stuff that came with it. For me, that was the very best Christmas EVER, because my grandmother gave it to me, and she shoved a ton of barbie stuff (clothes, shoes, accessories) inside the camper so it was practically busting open. For a little girl, that was like the holy grail!

Does anyone remember a barbie RV? I had one. It was huge, like maybe 2 feet long. The top had an opening so you could play with the inside. It's like this thing fell off the face of the earth. They just dont make toys like that anymore. Now they're small. Mine was a yellow color. I loved that rv so much, but my mom got rid of it when I was older. It would probably be worth a lot now.

There must of been one with accessories and one without, mine came with two sleeping bags and two camp chairs. i still remember it as my best birthday present ever. You could make the top of the camper be a luggage rack by attaching rubber bands to hold down the sleeping bags on top.

I have the exact same RV described at top. I just took it out a few months back for my kids, 5 and 7,and they LOVE IT! IT's orange with the campfire described, orange pots, orange stools w/yellow seat and the tent on the drivers side that opens. It is so much fun to still have this!

My wife has the Country Camper, but all the stickers on the inside of it are all faded and peeled off due to it being outside for years (yes, I'm a dork)....anyway, I'm trying to replicate the stickers so my wife can have a lovely camper again to show the kids. If anyone can send pics of the stickers and interior it would be greatly apreciatted. You can send to "MOOFACE" c/o AOL. I was going to type "dot-com" but I don't think it will print on here. Thanks.

My daughter still as her Barbie camper from the 70's, yellow, two driving seats for Barbie and Christal Ken. A shower room and kitchen and two long seats which were the beds. Still got all the pillows and sleeping bags I made specially for it. About 3 foot long. Anyone know if they have increased in value.

I had a van and a camper attached to the back and was remove able. I can't remember much about the camper seeing how it was broken soon after I got it, but the van was pink, no doors opened, no windows, 2 rows of seats, and a huge backend. Does anyone know where I could get a new one for my daughter?

I found the Country camper at a yard sale. It also had a 4 poster orange bed with it. Does anyone know anything about the bed? Thanks

My sister had this camper. It was almost identical to the Big Jim camper (go figure, both made by mattel) except the colors and the barbie version had the tent compartment that folded out.

Alan, Don't feel so bad. I took VIP care of the camper. Wrapped it properly, put in temperature controlled storage and still the stickers faded and peeled off. Not built to last. It was a fantastic toy 30 years ago and I enjoyed it the best out of all my toys. I turned it into a portable orthopedic surgeons office. I made crutches out of wooden Q-tips. I carried it with me all this time and just had to part with it last week because I had to downsize my residence. Does anyone have one that is in good condition? If so, WHAT IS THE APPROXIMATE VALUE?

Well, Shawn, I don't know which version your sister had. But the original BCC did NOT come w/ the dishes, utensils, fire pit, etc. The Barbie camping set w/ the tent did. Maybe your sister had both toys? The commercial for this is on YouTube, and any doubters are welcome to look for themselves. I had the first version of the BCC. I got it for Christmas when I was 7. Some of them had colored tents and sleeping bags, but mine was just plain mustard yellow. I remember on Christmas day when we threw out her box and the wrapping paper, the decals for the camper went in the trash too! So I never had the cabinet facings and flowers! But my "Suntan" Barbie (as I called her), Qick Curl Kelley and generic doll Valerie still had fun in it. Later on my friend Sandra had the Barbie Beach Bus that had more accessories and came in blue. Strange that we never played w/ them together.

Clara, I believe the orange 4 post bed goes with the "Dawn" dolls. I had the Dawn furniture and since the dolls are smaller in size the furniture was also smaller and fit nicely in the Country Camper, which is what I also did with mine.
