Here's a toy not mentioned. The Zip Strip pocket size racing set by Kenner. Unlike Hot Wheels, quite portable. Car, launcher and track coil (like tape measure) and holder. Mustang, Sting Ray and Charger were available separately. Original retail price around $3. From the Saturday morning cartoon vault, a TV spot for this aired on "Perils of Penelope Pitstop" over CBS (10/25/69). Set in the 1920s, the series focused on ex-Wacky Racer Penelope (Janet Waldo) and her lawyer (Paul Lynde) who also tries to murder her for her fortune (as the Hooded Claw). Another ex-Wacky Racer, the Ant Hill Mob, protected Penelope best they could. Leader was Clyde (Paul Winchell). Gary Owens narrated, and Mel Blanc doubled as the Bully Brothers and Yak-Yak, the Ant Hill guy who laughed at impending doom. The cartoon was a tribute to silent-film stunt producer Mack Sennett.
