For this story on big toys (amusement rides), we go back to the summer of 1972, suburban Chicago. Santa's Village, a fairly new family fun center in E. Dundee, had several fun rides. The Cannonball and English Rotor roller coasters. Also, the Space-Away ship and Swiss toboggan (simulation). Santa's Village was divided into three areas with different themes. Even in mid-July, kids could see Santa Claus in the North Pole attraction. Found an extensive radio clip with the commercial on WCFL (7/11/72), with newly-welcomed Super Jock Larry Lujack (his first week at AM1000). Lujack also jokingly fumbles his way doing a spot for Flip Magazine, which rivaled teeny-bopper Tiger Beat, and other spots for Just Pants (store) and Carson's Dept. Store. Lujack worked the PM-drive shift at the station (and mornings when at WLS). This was great top-40 radio, Chicago style!
