Here's another "toy" of the past for young and old: The Sinclair Gas Pump Transistor radio. Mostly red with tin plating. Used 9-volt battery. These were offered at Sinclair stations for $4, with or without gas purchase, from mid-1967 to late-1968. Quite popular on the beach. Today, a working radio, complete in box with earphone and paperwork, worth over $100. Sinclair's TV ad budget was small. Commercials aired mostly on a local level, rather than on the networks. The only one begins with the cartoon dinosaur pitching gasoline with nickel added for better mileage, using the old Theresa Brewer tune, "Put Another Nickel In."
