For those interested in the 70s toy kit which consisted of plastic shapes with notches in the sides where they could be interconnected, I believe these were a licensed version of a UK toy called PlayPlax. If you google playplax most of the hits will be versions that only had square pieces. It is possible another company in the US created knockoff versions that also had circles and triangles
