This has been driving me nuts for years! Around 1975-77, I was given a toy catalog (from just one manufacturer, but I can't remember who) from which to choose a birthday gift. The toy I got had an open-top globe which contained a piece of paper (sort of like the shape of a fondue pot). You'd drop in glittery coloured sand (I think) through the top of the globe and then you'd blow or hum into a mouthpiece at the top of a tube coming off the globe. The point was the sound waves would vibrate the paper and ink/sand/glue/whatever it was...sort of like spin art. Thanks!!
