The thing I'm looking for was sold as a toy, but is more like one of those executive desk toys. It was a flat, plastic hexagon, about 3 inches across. It had a circle of flexible tape-like material on the back. There was a small amount of liquid sandwiched between the two. The point of the toy was to mush the tape with your fingers, which makes the liquid flow around under the plastic, changing patterns and colors. I also recall that the liquid was iridescent.
