Responding to Liam's comment: This was a slick gimmick by some two-bit novelty companies, and ads offering "Moon Rocks" were posted. Ordinary rocks, obtained from a quarry, were tumbled and cut to resemble those actually obtained by NASA in 1969. The rocks were then dyed and treated to grow, though slightly, into stalagmites. If you come across copies of comic books from 1969, '70 or '71, you'll likely see ads by novelty companies offering this stuff, usually for a dollar or two. These ads were aimed at kids under ten years old, and with no disclaimer that the rocks were not obtained from the moon. True, the first moon landing did create strange marketing concepts, but none of the known toy manufacturers came up with this.
