The seventies twist of Turkish Taffy meant the end, at least for thirty years. Tootsie Roll bought the rights to Turkish Taffy from Bonomo in 1972, then created its own brand of taffy. A new Bonomo Turkish Taffy company regenerated in 2002. Originally a New York product only, Turkish Taffy became a national favorite since Bonomo bought the rights in the late 1930s. Bonomo smartly promoted its product with plenty of TV and comic book ads from the 1950s until 1972. Turkish Taffy was sticky, messy...but delicious!
