A product of the D.L. Clark Company since 1901, Teaberry Gum was merely a local favorite in the Pittsburgh area for sixty-some years. Then, innovation set in. By 1964, Teaberry Gum went national. In 1967, The famed trumpet player/bandleader Herb Alpert was hired to provide background music in a series of TV commercials. This campaign helped some, but Teaberry was Clark's only signature gum, up against the giants (Wrigley, Adams, Beech Nut). One of these commercials aired on "Batman" (3/29/67, ABC). Teaberry is still made (in Mexico) and sold today.
