There were several versions of Bugs Bunny talking dolls, and nearly all were made by Mattel. The first ones came out in 1962. It was sort of a self-promoting thing; When the "Bugs Bunny" network TV show moved from prime time to Saturdays, Mattel became a co-sponsor, along with General Foods. Along with the familiar "What's Up, Doc?" phrase, the dool's other phrases were mostly about loving and eating carrots. Marketing of the dolls began to slacken into the 1970s, as new cartoon characters such as Scooby Doo and Archie took front stage to Looney Tunes. A new surge in Bugs talking dolls began in the late "70s, as the Looney Tunes became mascots for the Six Flags chain of theme parks.
