Hamdingers were made by the Patrick Cudahy company of Cudahy, WI, (suburban Milwaukee). My uncle Joe was a sales manager for the company, so we had a seemingly limitless supply of the firm's pork products at home and I have consumed vast quantities of the legendary Hamdingers. They were actually pretty tasty. They came in a can of six, with a sheet of wax paper in between each patty. They did have perhaps the most insipid commercial ever produced. It featured a family doing a kick-step dance in their kitchen and singing the now infamous jingle..."Hamdingers, Hamdingers, hamburgers made from ham, Hamdingers, Hamdingers just cook 'em up in a frying pan". Urban legend has it, (although most likely untrue), the the kid in the ad suffered so much abuse from schoolmates as a result of his appearance in the commercial that he committed suicide.
