Ah the bliss of "Spoon Candy." I recall being in early grade school (72-73) when this was still an available after-dinner treat in our Portland, Oregon home. There's a possible reason why this dessert was mysteriously discontinued. I clearly recall becoming violently ill one time after eating this. If memory serves, other members of my family also suffered this disappointing experience. Perhaps that wasn't a fluke incident because shortly after, I seem to remember being told about a few news articles about this product being pulled from the shelves due to reports of people getting sick from the product, possibly because of certain ingredients combined with the home refrigeration process that was part of the preparation. Back in those days before the time of Class Action Law-Suites, oftentimes when a popular product suddenly proved to be harmful, they just abruptly vanished. In any case, what a bummer. I'm wondering if anyone else remembers any stories about people getting ill from Spoon Candy.
