When I was in 6th grade, Smurfs were THE rage at school. There was a store in the mall that sold the little PVC figures - I think they were a dollar or so apiece. There were dozens of them in different poses and outfits. I used to buy as many as I could afford every time we went to the mall (usually one or two at a time) and you'd take them to school and compare them to your friends' collections. I had the plushes too, but the PVC figures are what stand out in my mind. I remember one that wore ice skates and a scarf and was posed like he'd just landed on his Smurfy butt :)
