Slim Jim meat snacks go back to 1929 in Philadelphia by a small company. General Mills bought naming rights in 1967. By 1982, Goodmark Foods became the new owner, through much of the WWF, "Macho Man" Poffo sponsorship. ConAgra took over Goodmark 20 years ago, and is current producer. Some confuse this with Slim Jim taffy products, which first came out in 1972, by a New York candy firm. No word if legal action over name infringement occurred.
