I remember being shocked the moment my conservative Roman Catholic Mom answered "Yes" when I begged to have the one I'd picked out. Mine was light beige with multi-colored polka-dots. It was short sleeved with matching panties. And no, pants were not worn over them. The matching panties were meant to show. The mini skirt was popular then so it was a relief to be able to bend down to pick up my schoolbooks and not worry about my underwear showing. Mine was purchased at Pederson's in Bound Brook NJ in 1972. I was in 8th grade. I also wore elephant bell bottoms back then. We called them elephant bells for short. Anyone remember them?
