Another edition of Lambert's Local Line. A TV commercial block from Chicago's WGN, which included a McDonald's spot that pressed the "Get a Meal For Under 75 cents" tag, with choice of soft drink or shake ("For Limited Time, Shamrock Shakes"). This aired on "Family Classics" (movie anthology) in 1971. One of Channel Nine's resident announcers, Cliff Mercer (known for his deep, bass voice) did commercial voice-overs during the show (also on radio, 1967-88). During the 1980s, Mercer's unique voice was mocked by radio personality Garry Meier, while he worked as partner-in-crime to the controversial Steve Dahl, from 1979 to 1995 (the duo broke up after Dahl insulted Meier's fiancé on the air). Afterward, Meier had successful stints at WLS and WGN radio, while Dahl faded into oblivion, via the burn-out route.
