I used to get these in the 60s and 70s. My favorite fillings were the cherry, caramel, fudge and Brazil nut. Another site called Candy Addict mentions these, with other comments, but I was unable to post on it. They say the 7Up soda company bought out the candy bar to keep the name. Another person said they contacted the company and they said they stopped making them because the enrobing machine kept breaking down. The 7Up bar was created in the 30sw, before the 7 Up Bottling Company made their soda; so why didn't they name their soda something else if the name 7 Up was already on a candy bar? As for the machine breakdown theory, I've worked in manufacturing, and if they successfully made the bar for 40-odd years, why would they stop? There are still a few places in the East that make their classic products on their old machinery, and I'm sure those machines require plenty of maintenance. I'm not buying either of these theories. With today's trend towards retro and natural products, I believe somebody could make the 7Up bar again, the way it used to be made.
