Salt and pepper cords were what all the boys at St Vincents Catholic school had to wear in the 60s and 70s. And you could only get them at the uniform store. They must have been really hot during our Southern California Santa Ana days every September and October. We wore our skimpy little green plaid jumpers or skirts with white blouses that had to have a "peter pan collar" whatever that meant.
