Comments left:	I changed my first and last name and got rid of my middle name back in 1975. I went through about three years of therapy and discovered that a simple name change could wipe away 18 years of abuse from my father and six years of a very bad marriage. I was going to have three names – first, middle and last. I was playing with my new name (first name is my mother’s maiden initials and Marie was a tweaking of Maria from Westside Story), signing it over and over and over again. My pen slid between the first and middle names. I realized instantly that this was the name for me. I am a unique, creative person, so why not have a unique, creative first name. I took the name “Rothchild” because of a very funny candy commercial (Rothschild candy bar): Rapunsel says to the old gnome who is asking her to let down her hair: “Not now, I’m in the middle of a Rothschild,” as she crunches away at the candy bar. My boyfriend was getting very perplexed every time my mother would call us. Of course, it was right in the middle of a passionate session of lovemaking. He waited and waited and waited for her to call after I changed my name so he could honestly say, “Not now, I’m in the middle of a Rothchild.” It never happened. (Yes, I took the "s" out of the name because I did not want to be associated with such a famous name.)
