i loved the full size Ring Dings back in the '60s, i remember little bits of the chocolate frosting would drop down into the cake, probably following the holes where they inserted the cream. To those who mentioned Golden Ring Dings, those were my favorite. Yellow cake with white cream, and I think the chocolate frosting was lighter than the frosting on the devil's food version. Haven't had one in 45 years but some days I can still taste them in my mind. The closest thing to them were Hostess Chocodiles, but they weren't as good.
