One correction and a few additions to previous story. The Archie "Boys and Girls" cutout record was on Super Sugar Crisp (late 1969). I did watch "Here Come the Brides" on Antenna TV some 3 years ago. Was fairly decent. Good drama (not soap-opera mush). While set around 1870, several 1970-ish cultural references were mixed in. Future stars Bo Svendson and David Soul were in it, plus Robert Brown (who spoke in an Irish accent on series), who's approaching 91 years young now. Also found out that, while "Brides" was in production, Bridgett Hanley did marry a guy who worked behind the scenes. "Brides" was really targeted at young adults, and Bobby Sherman gained no prominence until season two. His character had a serious stammering problem at first. ABC ran it on Wednesday night, opposite "Virginian" on NBC. After cancellation, went right into syndication (local stations aired it on weekends). Rice Krinkles did undergo ingredient changes, but survived into the 1980s.
