Comments left:	Red Barn's Barnbuster was a quarter pound hamburger loaded with pickles, onions and tomatoes. I think it was meant to emulate Burger King's Whopper. Red Barn also had the Big Barney, which was to emulate McDonald's Big Mac (two beef patties, three bun pieces, thousand-island sauce, onions and pickles. In 1970, the Barnbuster was 55 cents, Big Barney was 60 cents (regular burger was 20 cents). Regarding TV advertising, Red Barn was not advertised so much as McDonald's. Commercials rarely aired on network TV...only local affiliates which had restaurants nearby. I have two commercials: one from 1969, a general promo, and a Barnbuster ad from 1971 featuring puppets (the chicken leg and the puppet that resembled Ernie from "Sesame Street").
