Responding to Jane: The short time Pink Panther cereal was marketed, in part, had to do with the licensing agreement between General Foods and the Mirisch Company, which produced the Pink Panther animated cartoons. Sales of the cereal were mediocre. Based upon that, GF chose not to extend the licensing agreement beyond one year, retroactive to October, 1972. Lately, and since 1977, the Panther is only used to sell Owens-Corning insulation.
