Nesbitt's originated in Los Angeles in 1927. Through the mid 20th century, their orange soda strongly rivaled Orange Crush. The Moxie Beverage Company of New York bought Nesbitt's around 1974. Moxie was renamed Monarch, now based in Atlanta. Nesbitt's began experimenting with cream soda under Moxie's ownership.
