Salerno's cookie factory was near my childhood home in Niles on Cauldwell Ave off Oakton. I grew up smelling the wonderful aroma of baking cookies. After college I waitressed across the street from Salerno at Victoria Station (c:1979). The Salerno family used to come in for lunch. I bet it was Mike Salerno that went off on his own, as he seemed close to my age (at that time). Salerno Biscuit Co.'s production facility in Niles was acquired by National Biscuit Co. in Oct. 1995. The Salerno brand was purchased by Sunshine Biscuits in 1991.
