The jelly donuts and honey-dipped were my favorite of all time - even better than the just-made Dunkin Donuts down the street. Just the right amount of everything, and the jelly was perfection. I still remember the juicy, crispy exterior and the slightly warm, oozy, sweet jelly center that my grandmother would sometimes leave slightly frozen so I wouldn't burn my mouth. Nobody has ever come close to recreating that jelly or that glazing, combined with the airy, softness of the dough that melted in your mouth... Ahhhh...the 70's.
