From early 1970, a prominent display ad for Milkshake bars appears during "Beat the Clock" with Jack Narz hosting. Milkshake bars were part of the "party" (consolation) prizes given to contestant couples who failed to complete a stunt in time. Comedian Marty Allen was the celebrity guest who assisted both couples as well as performing a solo stunt for cash. Couples who succeeded in beating the clock went to the cash board to pick a letter with a hidden amount (highest was $200). This version of "BTC" was taped in Canada and had a live organist play for dramatic effect. Young female models assisted with contestant stunts. By 1971, the policy of married couples only was abolished, and unmarried male-female couples could participate. Wanting to return to Los Angeles, Narz left the show, replaced by less genial Gene Wood, in 1972. All contestants and those in studio audience received a home "Beat the Clock" stunt game set.
