Funny - I grew up with Mapleine syrup and have been making it for my kids for years. I don't ever recall having a problem finding a place to buy it. I usually shop at Safeway/Von's. It has been a lifesaver - especially when we had all 4 kids in the house and the teenage boys would eat STACKS of pancakes. Any bit of savings counts when you go thru 2 gallons of milk a day and besides - I like the flavor better than the bottled stuff at the store. The only variance from these other receipes is that I bring 1 cup of water, 2 cups of sugar and 1/4 tsp cream of tartar to boil (boil for 3 minutes). Then I remove it from the heat and add 1/2 tsp Mapleine. The cream of tartar helps to thicken the syrup.
