O thank you for posting this! I loved this as a kid, kept me busy for hours. I would experiment with how the heavy blue sand and lighter white sand would layer on each other. If one were to sloooowwwwly rotate the window clockwise (or anti-clockwise) the images would resemble seascapes, whereas if one would simply flip the thing over, the images would resemble jagged mountain peaks. Mine started losing sand though the seams between the panes, and it started making a mess around the house, so it disappeared, like many of my kid-toys did over time :o)
