From the daytime TV vault. an episode of "Let's Make a Deal" over ABC (3/22/69). Jolly Time popcorn is shown in a pricing game. The economy-size (one pound) can retailed at 79 cents. Usually, when contestants made bad deals and got stuck with "Zonks," they were given consolation prizes. $50 worth of Jolly Time was among products given out. After five miserable years (for Monty Hall) on NBC, "Deal" moved to ABC for seven years. While handing out $1000 bills and $5000 cars to contestants, Hall (in interview) said NBC treated him like dirt (despite show's success) in sticking him with a contract that provided no cost-of-living raises. "Let's Make a Deal" was suspended in 1976, returning in 1983 (in syndication). Production took place in Montreal as a cost saver, with Hall as host, until 1986.
