I can’t remember the year; I’m 64 now but I think I was going into high school and my mother drove me down to Weist Department store in downtown York, Pennsylvania to buy my first John romaine purse. You would’ve thought I was buying my first car it was that exciting to me. I purchased the small purse that look like a treasure chest, all leather oxblood with the small handle & the lion’s emblem above the latch. I can still remember that moment like it was yesterday. I can still remember the smell of the purse. I don’t know what happened to that purse; but was able to purchase one off of Poshmark that looks exactly like the one I bought from Wiest. So many memories.
