I just bought a beautiful John Romain purse in a Goodwill thrift store today because it just looked like a quality purse, unique and high end even if I knew it was vintage. Sure enough I went on the internet when I got home and came across this web page. I am an a late eighties; early ninties teen but I am so delighted to read about all the fond memories women have of the bags and their childhoods. The bag means even more to me now that I have read these memories. It seems John Romaine has become a cultural element of the American fabric of the 1960s and 70s in America. Thank you for sharing all of your memories. The memories have added value to the bag for me.
