From the prime time TV vault, The Fifth Dimension performs, dancing atop a Jell O box with the "light snack" slogan, followed by a 1 2 3 commercial. This aired during "Red Skelton" on CBS (9/30/69). This was during Skelton's 16th (and last) year on CBS, which gave the famed clown an unceremonious boot, while trying to phase in programs geared toward younger viewers. NBC picked up Skelton's variety show for one last year (1970-71). Skelton hated the perception that young people wouldn't appreciate the arts of mime and professional clowning, feeling that his age prompted show cancellations.
