Found a Hot Wheels TV commercial block for Talking Service Center (pop-up vinyl garage/parking ramp with pull-string cord to make talk) and Wipe-Out race game (similar to a board game, using Hot Wheels cars). These aired on the "Sky Hawks" carton show (10/4/69, ABC). Another cartoon history lesson coming up, regarding ABC-TV's "Super Saturday Club." As its cartoon lineup was heavily laden with Mattel Toy commercials, the network hoped that the Club would generate better ratings against CBS and NBC, which had far better kid shows. Success was modest. Membership sales (50 cents per club kit) were far below expectations. ABC stopped offering memberships as 1970 began, while still honoring redemption of the Mattel discount stamps (for a short time) included with each club kit. With the Club officially cancelled, ABC still used the "Super Saturday" logo for its mediocre cartoon lineup until the fall, 1970 season began.
