My friends and I first had these chips from Kiddie's Korner in Timmins Ontario; I think around summer 1978. (The Dickie-Dee guys were still driving around on ice-cream bikes then.) I bought the grape chips and my friend bought the orange. I remember we went on a hike in the woods later, and my friend threw up. It's true they had a kool-aid like substance on them. The best I can describe the flavor was simulated fruit mixed with a puckering quality, like taking an antacid. Not sure, but this might have been excessive amounts of MSG. Needless to say, the marketing posters stayed in the window of the corner store long after the chips were discontinued. A horrible reminder of the experience.
