I grew up in Cypress Hills Brooklyn in the 1960s. My parents both worked and my Grandma watched me. If I was really good I would get a slice of homemade walnut pound cake, toasted and buttered and a big glass of Hoffmans Chocolate Cream Soda with a scoop of Howard Johnsons Chocolate Ice cream in it with 2 striped paper straws. I was in heaven.Sooooooo good. Nothing ever like it.
