I too loved my Heidi doll. I wanted Jan too, but my parents wouldn't get her for me. I gave Heidi a pixie hair cut - a fashion then, but I maimed the doll! Then, in college, I showed her to my boyfriend, and he thought that her arm going up looked like she was saying "seig hiel", and made a little nazi arm band for her! Needless to say, we both had to show everyone this peculiar doll's action, and soon her arm mechanism broke. My boyfriend reported that she wouldn't go "hiel" anymore and he tried to fix her, but couldn't. Her body was in pieces, and I tossed out everything but the arm with armband and the head, where he had drawn a little Hitler moustache. I later was able to replace Heidi (with full head of hair) on eBay, and picked up the Jan doll I always wanted too. I just bought an extra pair of Heidi and Jan dolls for my foctor's two nurses, who are named Heidi and Jan!
