I worked for Guy's in the warehouse from 1977 to 1980. They used to put various amounts of mustard oil in the gallon jars of pickles sold in bars to make them X xx xxx HOT !!! They also packaged "Party Pride" potato chips sore Safeway as their store brand (just changed the roll of cellophane on the bagger) We would take a box up to the chip room and fill it right out of the fryer where they drop on the shaker table for salt and inspection (2 employees picked out any that didn't pass quality). I enjoyed having worked for Guy's but went to work for Hallmark Cards after Bordens bought the company. The Family sized bags cost 79¢ in "1977" and went to 99¢ and then $1.09.....The peanuts came in 125# burlap sacks, uncooked cashews in rectangular metal time. The trailers full of loose potatoes would pull around the plant after weighing on the scale and park on a giant platform where the truck would be elevated and the potatoes would roll out into a hopper. There was railroad tracks behind the building with rail doors in the building but those were never used while I worked for Guy's. I remember when I applied for the job they sent me straight for a quick physical and then started work the same day! Good memories for sure!!!
