Interesting history. My father, Robert C. "Bob" Lippold took over Kitty Clover in Kansas City upon the death of his father, my grandfather, when I was two months old. The old plant was located in Westport and later was moved to their newly built facility on Clary Blvd. The name was changed to "Clary House" (I was just a kid when they had their name-changing pow-wow in our basement/rec room)as they had expanded to include Cardinal potato chips out of St. Louis as well. Yes, I believe the little toys with the little plastic balls were theirs...not for sure though but, I DO know as kids, dad paid us to stuff pens and other giveaways into plastic bags while at home for pay. We were also lucky enough to meet many of the KC Chiefs players and even made a commercial with Len Dawson...kind of cool. Funny thing, Guy Caldwell (Guy's chips) lived just a block or two over from us...nice man. Oh yeah...nothin' better than hot chips right from the assembly line!
